UK Doctors' Group Comes Out In Support Of E-Cigarettes

An influential doctors group in the UK has come out in support of e-cigarettes to help people quit smoking. The Royal College of Physicians issued a major report yesterday saying that a large scale switch from cigarettes to e-cigarettes “has the potential to prevent almost all the harm from smoking in society.”

Here & Now’s Robin Young talks to John Britton, director of the U.K. Center for Tobacco and Alcohol Studies at the University of Nottingham and chair of the committee that produced the report, about its recommendations, which run counter to what public health officials in the U.S. are saying about e-cigarettes.
