- A bill that would have aided survivors of the Dec. 2, 2015 mass shooting in San Bernardino was gutted int he state Legislature;

- the cleanup of chromium-6 in the San Bernardino County high desert town of Hinckley has reached a milestone, and;

- audits of California's two public university systems offered some surprises.
