Valley Fire 13% Contained At 1,341 Acres; Evacuations Lifted For Forest Falls And Adjacent Towns

Road crews work on removing Valley fire-related mud and debris from Highway 38 following a downpour over the weekend. Hwy 38 remains closed from Bryant St. in Yucaipa to Angelus Oaks to all but residents of the area.

UPDATED 9:00 AM MONDAY JULY 9:

The Valley Fire burning in the San Bernardino National Forest east of Highway  38 north of Forest Falls  has consumed 1,341 acres and is 13 percent contained as of 8am this morning (Monday).  The fire was reported early Friday morning.

Evacuation orders for the communities of Forest Falls and Mountain Home Village have been lifted.. However,. Hwy 38 is still closed from Bryant Street in Yucaipa  to Angelus Oaks   because of fire danger and several thunderstorms that resulted in some flooding and debris.

Residents of Mountain Home Village, forest Falls, and Angelus Oaks will have to show ID to prove they live there to get through the road closures.

Conditions are hazy and the Southern California Air Quality Management District has issued a smoke advisory today for portions of both San Bernardino and Riverside counties – particularly the Pass Area and the Coachella Valley.
