11:00 A.M. Pacific Time TUESDAY UPDATE:
The Canyon Fire 2 burning in east Anaheim Hills has -- as of late this morning (Tuesday) -- burned 7,500 acres and is 25 percent contained. Authorities say at 24 homes have been destroyed by the blaze. Mandatory evacuations are still in effect for a large swath of Orange County either side of the 241 toll freeway from the 91 Freeway south to Santiago Canyon, and southwest as far as north Tustin.
Up to 1000 firefighters with ground equipment and air support will be fighting the blaze today.
The 911 Freeway is open both directions between Riverside and Anaheim, but there are and will be today many on and off ramp closures on both directions of the 91 between Riverside and Yorba Linda.
All mandatory evacuations remain in effect in Anaheim, Orange and Tustin.
Anaheim evacuation area remains unchanged: east of Serrano, north of Nohl Ranch, south of 91 freeway, west of 241 freeway. Residents south of Walnut Creek Reservoir should be ready to leave if the fire spreads.
City of Orange mandatory evacuations: Orange Park Acres, Santiago Canyon Road East of Cannon.
City of Tustin mandatory evacuations: Jamboree and Tustin Ranch Road (north of Pioneer).
City of Irvine: no current evacuations
In the morning, authorities will assess if some Anaheim neighborhoods may see evacuations lifted on Tuesday.
But evacuated east Anaheim residents should prepare to be out of their homes through midday, if not longer.
Evacuated areas still remain unsafe with fire risk and crews working in the area.
