Poll: Hillary Clinton And Bernie Sanders Are Virtually Tied In Calif. Primary Race

www.youtube.com

According to a new statewide poll, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are in a very close race for California's Democratic presidential primary .  KVCR's Ken Vincent has more.

A new Public Policy Institute of California poll shows Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders in a tight race for the Democratic presidential primary. Forty-six percent of likely Democratic primary voters support Clinton compared to 44 percent for Sanders.

Those voters include independents who say they’ll vote in the Democratic primary. The results are in stark contrast to a Survey USA poll out this week that shows Clinton with a nearly 18-point lead over Sanders. Capital Public Radio’s Ben Adler explains the reason for the difference.

0525AQ_PRESPOLL1A:17  “The Survey USA poll uses a method of coming up with the results that veteran California pollsters are concerned about. They say the Survey USA poll relies too much on landlines and not nearly enough on cell phones particularly for California of all states.”

The PPIC poll found that in a potential November matchup, Republican Donald Trump trails both Clinton and Sanders.

Ken Vincent has retired. We appreciate the way he shared his expertise with many of our young interns and reporters over the nearly eight years he spent as KVCR's lead journalist and Morning Edition host. We wish him a happy and relaxing retirement as he spends more time in his garden and, as he mentioned, more time on the golf course. Thanks Ken!
