3 Of 6 SoCal Wildfires Near Complete Containment As CalFire Burns Through Yearly Budget In 6 Months

Dec 11, 2017

In northern San Diego County, some 1,600 Cal Fire firefighters have been battling the Lilac Fire. Thousands of other firefighters - in addition to hundreds of ground units and dozens of air units - are scattered around 5 other wildfires in the region. After the past 6 months, CalFire has already exceeded it's yearly firefighting budget.

Of the 6 major wildfires that have been burning in Southern California over the past week, 1 is completely contained, 2 are nearing complete containment, and another is nearly 90 percent contained.  That remarkable feat has come because of the non-stop effort of thousands of firefighters and the deployment of hundreds of ground and air units, which has nearly depleted Cal Fire's annual firefighting budget.  Details on all of this in a report from KVCR's Ken Vincent.
