Twitter/@DavidDowneySCNG

12:00 NOON THURSDAY UPDATE:

The Canyon Fire burning in Corona's southwestern hills is, as of this morning, 45% contained at 2,000 acres burned.  Firefighters are continuing to build and reinforce fire line, mop up hot spots and patrol the fire perimeter.  All Corona schools are open today, including the 7 schools that were closed over the past 2 days.  The evacuation center at Corona High School is closed, and ALL evacuation orders on the Canyon Incident have been lifted. The lifting of evacuation orders is intended to allow residents only into the fire area. Therefore, all roads south of Green River Rd. from State Route 91 to W. Foothill Parkway are now open to residents with valid ID only.

Green River Road is now completely open, however the eastbound State Route 91 Green River Rd. offramp remains closed.

The audio report below was aired at 8:45 this morning (Thursday):

Ken Vincent has retired. We appreciate the way he shared his expertise with many of our young interns and reporters over the nearly eight years he spent as KVCR's lead journalist and Morning Edition host. We wish him a happy and relaxing retirement as he spends more time in his garden and, as he mentioned, more time on the golf course. Thanks Ken!
